Roll Top Covers

Scata's Auto & Truck Repairs, Inc. is an authorized distributor of quality roll tops from Pace Edwards for durability, style, convenience and security.

How does it work?
The Roll-Top-Cover is designed to be rigid across, with multiple hinged aluminum panels (about two inches wide) connected so that the entire cover will roll around a reel inside the canister. The canister measures just over 9 inches square. The cover has a retractor spring that maintains tension on the cover at all times. This assures easy opening of the cover.

What is it made of?
The Roll-Top-Cover consists of a three part assembly: metal panels covered by a foam pad which is covered by the external "fabric". This fabric is a special blend of polymer materials that gives a long life while maintaining flexibility at subfreezing temperatures. These three parts are laminated together to form a single unit. Other components of the Roll-Top are of aluminum or other non-corroding materials.

Will it keep the truckbed dry? What about snow and ice?
The Roll-Top-Cover is so designed that water collected from the top is carried off via "gutters" in the bolted-on side rails and then through the canister and then drained outside the truck bed. The top is one piece and water cannot leak through the fabric covering. However, water may intrude into the bed via components that are not part of the Roll-Top-Cover such as the tailgate, stake pockets, etc. Should absolute dryness be required, careful attention to these factors is mandatory. These components require proper sealing during installation.

Is it hard to install? How long will installation take?
Installation is simple. All parts are an exact match to your truck (no cutting is necessary). A few small drilled holes on the inside of the truck bed sill are all that is needed for installation. Tools needed will be a drill (we even provide the drill bit), a medium size phillips screwdriver and a medium sized slotted screwdriver. Installation will take about 2 hours. However, for best results, we suggest you have your Roll-Top-Cover professionally installed.

How does it lock?
The Roll-Top-Cover locks with a key in the center of the cover near the tailgate. The key turns arms that lock into the side rails mounted on the sill of the truck. Besides the lock position at the tailgate, there is also a second lock position 1-1/2 feet forward of the tailgate (for loading small items). Pace Edwards will add an additional locking position to fit your specifications for an additional charge. However, this may add one to two days to the shipping date.

Will it improve my gas mileage? How?
Your gas mileage should improve by between 7% and 15% on the highway with the cover over the bed (except when towing). A university study shows substantial gas mileage improvement by covering the box of a pickup. Our inputs from customers and our own experience bears out the accuracy of this claim.

Will it work with my bedliner?
The rails on our cover are designed to fasten directly on the sill of the truckbed. If you have a bedliner that covers the sill, modification will be required. Most under-the-rail bedliners are more easily fitted with our cover, but may also require modification near the front corners.

Is there a warranty on the Roll-Top-Cover?
Yes, there is a one year warranty.

Who is the Pace Edwards Company?
The Pace Edwards Company, a manufacturer of specialty sailboat hardware, developed the Roll-Top-Cover in 1987. Since 1988 thousands of Roll-Top-Covers have been sold. It has grown to a nationwide company and exports to several other countries. A substantial portion of Pace Edwards Company sales come from referrals from satisfied customers.
